Prime Minister Carney's criticism of Trump is as empty and meaningless as any criticism of Netanyahu by a western head of state these last two years. Have any of them called for sanctions against the U.S. and Israel for our blatantly illegal actions? Have they called for ICJ investigation of Trump? No, of course not. International sanctions and international bodies such as the UN, ICC and ICJ are just to keep weaker nations down and in their place. Not to interfere with tyrants like Trump and Netanyahu and the bullying nations they represent.
Respectfully, for me as a so called Canadian—In the last 10 months we have seen him roll back policy on migrants, immigrants, on environmental policy such that the Minister of the Environment resigned. He hasn’t put a stop to the flow of arms to the US for Israel, Saudi Arabia and others. He is considering joining the so called Board of Peace. In fact he has increased military spending and continues to trample on indigenous sovereignty and treaty rights. We understand him to be a conservative (liberal red cloak) and desires Business as Usual but with other middling powers not necessarily the US. Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario praised him today and called him a business man who is clearing “red tape” for more business to take place and that he’s from Alberta implying he’s a pro-business Cowboy. That says a lot considering what Ford has done unilaterally in the province in which I reside. I’m not naive considering his previous career choices—but he campaigned on a lot and has made serious reversals to traditional Liberal values.
I was really looking forward to your take, and I am genuinely curious why you let him off the hook on these issues. I rarely (if ever) disagree with your take. Jeffrey Sachs agrees with you, btw. Full disclosure, I became an NDP supporter towards the beginning of the Trudeau government. I support Avi Lewis in the current NDP primary.
I heard Canada's premier at Davos, and was glad he said what he said. Except he DID NOT mention anything about Palestine. But he did mention Ukraine...
Having said that, again, I am glad he laid it out there, like indirectly calling the Europeans and other nations cowards.
The world today is EXTREMELY dangerous. Because we have ONE UNHINGED military SUPER POWER, and TWO economic SUPER POWERS.
The world MUST unite against the US and stop its global aggression, and impose aome rule of law.
Otherwise we are TOTALLY DOOMED, to put it politely...
As past head of Canada's central bank, head of a country with much natural resource, and understanding the relationship of gold and real money, Carney sees the end of fiat currency that was created in 1971
Carney also understands that the fiat currencies of the world will politically be crippled national economies without adequate resources of the metallic standards of gold and silver He sees the future of the US dollar and what will happen when its value falls to zero and understands that only the faith of the people give value to the fiat currency world
This is why Carney sees the end of global hegemons like the US Unlike the US China has been over the last 40y stockpiling gold and silver and now is not letting it out of the country so only one hegemon is left standing This is one of the reasons why Carney was in Beijing making a lasting trade deal The realizations of this creative policy all started with US arrogance For the US the days of the dollar are over
Peter, you have opened a wide stage curtain to see and acknowledge Trump as the evil and tragically laughable creature that he is, not the self-appointed demi-God he claims to be, and that his fawning admirers and assistants reinforce, as if they have been struck by a magical force that renders them incapable of seeing the evil and laughable creature that he is. Tragically, his latest bag of tricks, the Board of Peace initiative, has proved to be an out-of-control, dangerous movement that has attracted a large number of pre-approved world "leaders" seeking approval for some unseen benefit or protection from some other unseen danger, all heading into the self-service line to the idiot demi-God/

Agree with you and can add a few more things.

I agree with you completely, Nadia, and I'm also supporting Avi Lewis for NDP leader

It’s ’Mark’ Carney, not Marc.
I think that's just the captioning - it's spelled properly in the transcript
Yes, not the French language spelling.
This is an indigenous response to Carney’s Speech.
