If anyone knows the name of the woman from Britain that offered help to Palestinians students who may be coming to britian, could you send it to me? She spoke during the zoom call with Dr. Awwad. There is a young woman that has applied to programs in Ireland and she is looking for regional contacts that might have information or contacts that could help her should she be accepted as a student. Once accepted she needs to move quickly to have qualifying parameters in place. I would just give the woman from Britain her contact info and Twitter profile so she could take a look and reach out on her own terms

Then, whether or not she comes back to me, I can contact her for a chat and see what can be done. There are quite a number of British universities which have awarded places to Gaza students - the problem has been the British government being difficult about visa requirements. However, a few dozen students were recently allowed into the UK, so I could check out here who knows about procedures for applying here and pass her onto them. As far as I know, Irish universities have awarded more places, and the Irish government has been less difficult about it, so it's probably easier there, but not impossible here. Again, I am happy to track down who are the best people to put her onto so she can get some detailed advice.
Look into the sameer project, and also lifeline4gaza which is a site that partnered with some orgs on the ground to verify various gofundme campaigns that they then list on their site. We all have to use best judgement but these are a few i have seen staying very active that look promising. It seems like finding local orgs that are purchasing supplies within Gaza or donating to gofundmes is an obvious help, because they are under siege

I understand that the ultra orthodox in Israel bring planeloads of their American supporters over to participate in elections. How about starting a similar movement to encourage liberal American Jews to claim their right to citizenship and to vote in Israel?

I want to name the best Palestinian relief organization I can as beneficiary of my savings account and planned to ask my doctor which is best, but I won't see him until the middle of November. He is Palestinian, and his family got out of Gaza "while it was still possible," and probably contributes to them himself. He's one of the best, and also most popular, doctors in this area. But maybe Mr. Beinart can suggest the best organization to get this $37,000 bequest! Then I won't have to wait. Cit Bank will name an organization as beneficiary (Discover and American Express won't; I've tried!), but they do require a lot of info, including the organizations's counterpart of a social security number. I'd have to get this from the organization. Ideas??
I also want to reply to Mr. Beinart's video that none of us have done all we potentially could, except probably the people on the flotilla. We do what we can, and all of us together make a difference. Peter Beinart does far more than most with his videos, posts, and his wonderful book, which I read about in National Catholic Reporter! I constantly leave posts and comments, being physically unable to to a lot of more active things. (I go to that Palestinian doctor because he will help me stay alive longer!) But I do what I can, and if we all do that, yes we will make a difference. Even Donald Trump, if he is honest about the peace deal and keeps the pressure on Netanyahu, has made a difference - if it works, he's made the biggest difference of all!
-Gaza Support Network: This is a particularly important grassroots effort because it connects Jewish Israelis with families in Gaza. Its goal is not just to provide material support but to build relationships on either side of the wall. Such efforts are often key for peacebuilding.
-Forcibly Involved: Not a direct relief program but a very important, comprehensive list of every child killed in Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran since October 7th. -Standing Together: Again, not a direct relief effort but an important grassroots organization in Israel which has been loudly and repeatedly calling attention to the death toll in Gaza, protesting outside news stations that don't cover it, and putting themselves in harm's way to protect aid convoys and Palestinian homes in the West Bank from settler attacks. Again, consider supporting such grassroots peacebuilding efforts!
Standing Together is active there, as is 972+ Magazine (free to read online but relies entirely on donations). B'Tselem is a human rights legal defense group that's also a great way to support West Bank residents.

Today, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B’Tselem, and 100’s of global institutions, experts, leaders and an increasing number of UN member states join the global consensus - Israel is guilty of the crime against humanity of apartheid.
I recommend you look at Standing Together's response, particularly that of its Palestinian members, to BDS's accusations, which I personally believe to be in bad faith.

Those instagram requests really confound me. I figure many if not most are scammers, but I worry I’m ignoring some authentic ones. Anyone have strategies to distinguish?
It's pretty much impossible to tell who is genuine - though very few people in Gaza have enough to eat, so many of the appeals may be real. However, if you don't have a personal contact or recommendation, I would NOT do it. I would instead check out a reputable NGO which knows Gaza well and see what they are doing - that way you can help many people not a single person or family. I see a later message mentions MECA- Middle East Children's Alliance. I got some great help - and valuable reassurance - from one of the MECA staff when I was trying to check out a Gaza community group

Yes, recently read there are 69 illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank...who/what org is trying to mitigate this illegal activity.
