Thanks so much for this important truth and call to action. Sisi is absolutely a brutal and also inept “leader” who likes to give speeches with his back to his audience. Many Egyptians hate him, but many now act as if he’s doing something or other that is ok with them. We should have withdrawn aid to him long ago. And I’m so glad to hear what you say about Saudi & Emirati rulers who are also autocratic, even murderously so. MBS famously got away with a brutal public murder of a journalist. MBZ (of UAE) is likely worse. And that’s saying a lot — much of MBS’s worst ideas come from him. With taxpayer $ going to Sisi, we look for all the world like either enthusiastic of the dictator or dupes, or likely both. Our interest in human rights? Money speaks louder than PR, and there’s precious little of that.
So yes, it’s hugely refreshing to hear you say what I’ve long felt…
