We should recognize that Sullivan, Blinken, etc. are simply being dishonest and not speaking in good faith. They are intelligent and educated individuals, and lawyers. They almost certainly know that Israel is violating international law, and likely committing ethnic cleansing and possibly genocide. They cannot, of course, say so publicly for political, and career and reputational reasons, and out of loyalty to Biden. I'd say that they're insulting the intelligence of the American public, but that would only be partially true.

I'll add that the corporate media have, in particular, failed to challenge our elites on false or misleading narratives on Gaza and Israel-Palestine generally.

Excellent. Sullivan's reference to Israel as a "democracy"( certainly not for Palestinians ) is irrelevant to whether it is committing a genocide in Gaza or not. Many "democracies" have committed brutal acts of war and human right abuses. The US war in Iraq killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqis in a war launched based on lies.

Really, really good. The conclusion reminded me of how Kissinger was accepted and even honored post-Vietnam... Thank you.

Why should Sullivan, Blinken and Biden be spared rough justice? Does Peter really want to argue that no Hitler, Eichmann or Mengele deserves death for his crimes? We need to unequivocally state that Zionism is Nazi terrorism and that its supporters need to be eliminated by any means available. The psy-ops are an essential component of demoralising, delegitimising and defeating the enemy.

Oy. That's the answer? No... we knew that growing up. No one has to choose between turning the other cheek and use of illegitimate force.. One opposes, and one can oppose in a variety of ways. But the use of illegitimate violence necessarily backfires.

Who gets to/presumes to define "illegitimate"?

Defenders of Israeli democracy will always insist that “occupied territory” is not Israel, therefore Israel is still a democracy if you only count Israel proper. They will also deny the second class status of Palestinian-Israeli citizens.

Thank you Peter. Your observations and analysis help reinforce a politics of basic honesty and integrity and serves as a reminder of the alternate world elite policy makers inhabit in the service of power. You are a mensch.

THANK YOU so much for calling out the "Orwellian discourse of dishonesty." We definitely need to "call BS" on this. I am one of those who for no reason I can explain forced myself to listen to both the Blinken and Sullivan interviews. I find it interesting that many liberals as well as main stream media correctly call out Trump's lying. But, that isn't enough. Maybe Trump is just an even more extreme example of how far all our political leaders are willing to go in constructing an alternate reality in speech and in trying to deceive the public.

In view of the recent decisions as to editorials and content at the Washington Post, the LA Times, and Meta/ Facebook, I'd say that we should be concerned that the avoidance and strained accommodation we see in much of the media coverage on Israeli - Palestine will become the norm as to other difficult issues as well in this new Trump era.

Your words Re. The pontificating statements from our latest round of apologizers, slice laserlike through these spongy piles of meaningless blather. All these shape shifting sentences block any pursuit of reality and ends up with accusations of anti--semitism. What is a girl to do.....where is the people's open forum....and who will listen? Keep cutting to the truth. Bravo. Thank you

As usual an excellent analysis- thank you. So why do you think the 92nd Street Y, the council on foreign relations etc- when Blinken or Sullivan goes to speak why aren't they receiving push back?

I'd like to watch the interview with Gideon Levi. Is there a way I can do that?
